A CELEBRATION OF TRANSFER STUDENTS AND THE PROFESSIONALS WHO SUPPORT THEM

The National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students (NISTS) has declared the third week of October as National Transfer Student Week. At the University of Georgia, we understand the value that transfer students bring to the Bulldog community. We are excited to recognize students who became Bulldogs via the transfer process.

Start your morning strong with free coffee and donuts while supplies last in celebration of National Transfer Student Week! Created for transfer students in the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences but all are welcome!

National Transfer Student Week Kickoff

Start National Transfer Student Week with a grab-and-go popcorn bar, prizes, and transfer trivia fun – while supplies last! Grab a schedule and join the celebration – open to all students, transfer or not!

Music Monday and Thrift Sale
11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Tate Plaza

Cheap clothes. Loud music. No rules. We’re taking over Tate Plaza with DJ sets (yeah, it’s free) and a Thrift Sale where you can score dirt-cheap fits, weird trinkets, and one-of-a-kind junk. Pull up broke, leave with drip. This isn’t your mom’s garage sale. This is chaos — in style. Open to all students.

Got Empathy? Come Help Us Help Others

Do you desire to help others? Come discover careers in social work and meet other students whose work as interns are already having a positive impact. Learn about our BSW/MSW Double Dawgs program, the fastest track to a career in counseling and therapy at UGA! All students welcome!

Yoga Glow & Flow

Step into the glow and let your energy flow! Glow & Flow is an immersive yoga experience that blends dynamic Vinyasa movement with vibrant lighting, upbeat music, and mindfulness. Set in a low-lit room enhanced by blacklights and glow accessories (think neon paint, LED bracelets, and glowing mats), this all-levels class encourages you to connect with your body, breath, and rhythm. UMatter
5:30 pm – 7:00 pm in Miller Learning Center 247

Step into our 60-90 minute interactive upstander intervention program, where college students will be given the knowledge and skills to take action when they see someone in need. Change the narrative and become an upstander. Students who complete this program will make progress toward earning their Support Dawgs Certification. Open to all students.

Riding the Waves: Navigating Tough Times

This workshop is designed to discuss coping skills and how students can use them in everyday life to handle stress using skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Whether you are struggling with school, adjustment or another area of life, this is a space for you to discover ways to cope and make the most of your time at UGA. This workshop is led by a graduate student trainee at CAPS. Open to all students.

Cinema Signals: Twilight
5:45 pm – 7:00 pm in Miller Learning Center 247
Lights, camera, communication! Step into the work of cinema with “Cinema Signals”, an interactive program that explores the world of communication through the magic of movies and TV. We’ll dive into captivating clips, decode dynamics, and unravel the complexities of relationships in order to gain skills to apply to our own relationships. Open to all students.

Meditative Yoga
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Georgia Museum of Art
Join Dr. Hannah Howard, a post-doctorate in the Department of Religion and certified yoga instructor, as she leads us in a meditative yoga practice. Feel connected to yourself, your peers, and the world around you as we reflect and move in the beautiful Georgia Museum of Art. Open to all students.
**Please bring your own yoga mat. We will have limited supplies of yoga mats for students needing a mat.

Scrap & Yap
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm in Miller Learning Center 369
Join the Libraries for an evening of scrapbooking and yapping! Paper and scrapbooking supplies will be provided, but please feel free to bring photos, journals, and personal touches. This will be a low-stress environment, so come meet new folks and enjoy a night of scrapbooking, music, and snacks! Open to all students.

WUOG Birthoween
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm in Tate Grand Hall (5th Floor)
Join us in celebrating the birthday of our lovely college radio station WUOG 90.5 FM! This event will be held on October 23rd in Tate Grand Hall from 7pm – 9pm. The event is free for students and $5 for non-UGA attendees. Stay tuned to hear the amazing bands that will be performing at the event! We encourage you to wear costumes! There will also be live music, crafts, and food. See you there!

Halloween Masquerade
7:00 pm – 10:00 pm in the Victor K. Wilson Ballroom in Memorial Hall (2nd Floor)
Halloween Masquerade is a masked costume social event where students can vibe with music, enjoy refreshments, and getting to know each other! The theme is giving CAMP. Come dressed (costumes are not required) in your full spooky camp attire. Open to all students.
Spooky Making

Join the Libraries in the MLC Creative Engagement Wing for an afternoon of spooky crafts. Whether you are putting final touches on your Wild Rumpus costume or you are dropping in for a piece of candy, all are welcome!

Check in about how your classes are going! Get advice on connecting with your professors, learn about resources that can support your success, explore strategies for managing your transition to UGA, and talk through your options—like course withdrawal—before the deadline. Open to College of Engineering transfer students.
